"An Artist is a Performer on the Canvas. A Dancer with a Paintbrush. A Musician with the Paint. A Poet in each Stroke." -Melissa Janel
Homage to Janet Sobel
The Modern Art technique of Drip Painting is well identified by Jackson Pollack. Pollack defined, developed and established the Drip Painting style. However, contruary to poplar belief, Pollack was not the first artist to create a Drip Painting work of art. Janet Sobel was the first artist to experiment with Drip Painting. One of her pieces is on display at the San Diego Museum of Art. Story has it that Pollack viewed one of Sobel's Drip Painting at an exhibition and was inspired. Sobel's art career was short lived, as she developed health issues from allergic reactions to oil paints.
